Interesting article from the Savannah Daily News.com, whereby Savannah-Chatham Metro Police will have GPS capable systems whereby as they approach an intersection they will receive the right of way.
Clearly this is for emergency matters and urgent situations. Ninety vehicles will be equipped with the GPS systems and the receivers are located at eighty intersections around the Savannah-Chatham Metro area.
Initial concerns would be what if someone is approaching an intersection at the same time as a police car? Will this increase traffic collision? Will this power be abused? Clearly several questions yet to be answered at this point, time will tell.
