According to an article by the Savannah Morning News on savannahnow.com, a gasoline tanker truck heading south on I-95 in Bryan County smashed into the rear of a car-carrier causing an explosion.
Eric Flores of Brandon, FL, the driver of the car-carrier and his wife were able to climb from the truck before it exploded.
David Allen McGrath, 29, the driver of the tanker, who worked for Lewis and Raulerson, Inc., a Waycross-petroleum company, died in the crash.
It is unclear if there was mechanical error or problems with the functioning of the brakes of the tanker truck or if Mr. McGrath was distracted, a full investigation is on going. If you have any knowledge about this matter which may help investigators you are ask to contact Georgia State Patrol.
Our sympathies go out to the family and friends of Mr. McGrath.
